The Big Draw
The big draw was a preliminary design method. By researching and selecting a number of inspiring. or programatically similar buildings and spaces I began to montage together plans and sections from these buildings at 1:500 over site plans and sections. This allowed me to form my own ideas linking various spaces together that I liked from the various buildings and landscapes. This montaging of spaces and shapes acted as a catalyst to creating new ideas and thoughts that would not have crossed my mind without this task.
Having created the motages i was able SWOT analyse what i had created, considering what worked, what didnt, how the ideas could be advanced and how these 'buildings' worked on the sites. Through doing this I was able to re-think the spacial strategy and was able to notice problems and opportunties that the site had.
